Prior to co-founding BTL, David owned and operated an accounting practice tailored to small and medium sized businesses.
David has experience in taxation, accounting and audit in both public practice and industry.
David is a graduate from the University of Toronto where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce and a major in Economics. He earned his CPA, CA designation while working in the audit division of a mid-size firm.
In his spare time, David enjoys playing tennis and watching hockey.

James stands out as one of the few CPAs in public practice with a CFA designation, giving him unique insights into financial and tax matters. He draws upon his own experience as a small business owner to provide his clients with tailored accounting and tax solutions. He earned his CPA, CA designation at Deloitte, Canada’s largest accounting firm, and brings the rigorous skills and knowledge from a large firm to his small business clients.
Before co-founding BTL, James held various roles at Grant Thornton, BDO, Deloitte, and Roynat Capital (Scotiabank).
Patrick Liu

Patrick Liu, CPA, CA
Patrick has 7 years of experience in public accounting where he worked in audit, tax and advisory. He has both national and local regional firm experience in various industries.
Patrick graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from Brock University in 2012 and he obtained his CPA, CA designation in 2015.
In his spare time, Patrick likes to make videos that promote positive life-styles and attitudes. His goal is to direct his own motivational film in the next 3-5 years. Patrick also likes to play badminton and squash to keep himself fit.
